    mystery wire?

So was having a few issues with the stereo on the Senator. Had an auto eleccome out to check it and a few other things. He found this wire coming directly out of the back of the head unit that was separate from all the other plugs and looms. Not knowing what it was and needing to remove the unit he cut it thinking it was put there by a previous owner to run an amp or sub etc.

I decided to follow which direction the wire went in the dash and found it had a connector that joined to a purple wire. So he didn't need to cut it after (Dooh).

So other VT VX people, does anyone have any ideas as to what it is for and if it's stock or added?

posted this question up on LS1 also, someone said it might be an AMP trigger put there by HSV for their premium stereo upgrade. Sounds possable. There are some wires in the rear that look like the car had an AMP in it at one stage and there is a purple wire back there.

Nah not yet, haven't had two seconds to myself! pretty sure it's anAmp activation wire though. Might even be HSV's handy work. Pretty sure the senator would have been the only wagon in the VT to have the AMP and rear speaker set up so HSV may have to have run it like this as it wouldn't of been in the original Holden wagon looms. Head Unit needs to go for repair so will find out more then.
